Forgiveness

Thoughts on forgiveness by Saundra Huff

Forgiveness is about giving up our right to judge someone else.
Forgiveness is about forgiving myself for being judgmental instead of trying to justify my anger, hurt, and bitterness.

Forgiveness is about deciding or refusing to think or talk about an incident in which we were hurt.

If it has been over 6 weeks since an incident happened, and it remains unresolved, it's no longer about the incident, it's about ME getting the attention I think I deserve. Look what happened to me. Listen to what happened to me, so you will think someone else is Bad and I am GOOD. ME! ME! ME!

Forgiveness is about choosing to look at who sent the message, not who the messenger is. Satan may have been using them to hurt you, but you are continuing his work in a greater way by holding on to bitterness. Maybe Satan chose the right victim to do a greater work for him.

Forgiveness is to relinquish the right to punish you for what you did. Let go-let God. God doesn't need your help fixing any problem.

Forgiveness is admitting that I am angry that I chose to be hurt by what you did.

Forgiveness is allowing someone else to have personal preferences besides you.

Anger is a live emotion. Being mad is an instantaneous reaction. You can get over it quickly. Anger controls you -changes you- looks to future encounters.

A - allowing
N - negative
G - gratification
E - enlisting
R - revenge
